THE RADIANT LIGHT

THE SEAL OF THE PROPHETS:

MUHAMMAD (PBUH)

In Love and Honour

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was the greatest human to have ever been on earth. Divinely inspired, his eternal message has reached the hearts of millions and has transformed nations and civilisations. Recent misunderstandings and criticism has made it necessary to show the pureness of the correct message of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Why was it and what drove the Sahaba (Companions) to give and sacrifice everything for the beloved Prophet? What would have been the reaction of his Sahaba with regards to all the criticisms and misconceptions in our time? What was the true nature of his message which has generated millions of Muslims, making Islam the biggest religion to be present? And the final question:

WHAT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PBUH)?

Join us for this unique conference of Love, Mercy and Unity towards the Message which Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) brought into this world. Joined side by side by an amazing line up of guests, this conference is aimed at Muslims and Non-Muslims. Bringing into reality exactly who he was, what he came with and the responsibility of those who have chosen his way.

Letter to a Would be Mujahid

Assalamu ‘Alaikum,

Please find below excerpt from Imam Zaid Shakir’s ‘Letter to a Would be Mujahid’.

“Along those lines, please allow me to remind you of something else. Your misguided attempts to kill and maim innocent Americans only make it easier for the American military to kill more Muslims with greater impunity. Your actions help to create a political climate that removes any moral restraint from the actions of the American military, the IDF and soon the forces of India’s increasingly Hindu nationalist armed forces. You see, fear is a very potent emotion and when it is carefully manipulated it can lead to very irrational politics. That most extreme form of those politics is called genocide.”

[Imam Zaid Shakir – Letter to a Would be Mujahid]

I found it to be an eye opener, especially the parts about how the FBI and CIA are encouraging/creating these Mujahideen in order to be able to justify their presence in the Muslim Lands and to vilify Islam and the Muslims.

Please have a read and forward to others.

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf – How do we respond part 3

“Love of the Arabs is part of our faith, and hatred of them is from hypocrisy, as the Prophet, peace be upon him, said. However, wearing checkered kifayas is simply not a sunnah and is not necessary for one to be considered a “brother.” Even the modern Arab robe is originally from Persia. At the time of the Prophet, peace be upon him, Arabs dressed more like traditional Bangladeshis do today. That is, they wore lungis and long shirts.

The Companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him, were almost all converts, and not all of them were Arab. Salman was Aryan (now called Iranian), Bilal was black, and Suhaib was an Arab raised among the Byzantines. Our Prophet, peace be upon him, also dressed in a variety of styles; he wore Ethiopian shirts, Yemeni cloaks, Arabian lungis, and Byzantine garments. The Prophet, peace be upon him, was already practicing global culture in the seventh century, knowing that his religion would be embraced by many cultures, just as he predicted. Converts are a great source of renewal and strengthen Islam, but if they are expected to adopt a single alien culture, it limits the appeal of Islam to the exotic and adventurous among us.”

The Benefits of Tribulations

Alhamdu Lillahi Rabbil ‘Al Amin wa As Salatu Wa As Salamu ‘Ala Rasulillahi Wa Ala ‘Alihi, Wa Ashabihi Wa Sallim

This post was inspired by our posts on Facebook regarding the benefits of tribulation and I felt that it would be worth writing a more detailed post to complement the brief points that I have started to post on the Facebook page.

These posts are primarily based on the CD by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf. However, this will not be a transcript of the talk but rather my own interpretation of the Shaykh’s talk. The order and the exact definitions of the benefits may differ from the CD and I will be adding my own thoughts and experiences to the post. I hope that you find this beneficial and request your duas.

Tribulations are a part and parcel of our daily lives in this world. No matter what our states in the worldy domain, as human beings and creatures of Allah (SWT) we will experience tribulations, hardships, calamities throughout our lives. The way in which we deal with these tribulations and our responses and reactions to them will determine whether they are a source of benefit for us or a source of harm.

In a hadith related by Imam Muslim the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said that these is good in every trouble that befalls a believer, even in something as small as the pricking of a thorn, and that the troubles of this world expiate for the sins that we have accrued in our lives. Based on this we as Muslims beleif that there is good and benefit in all forms of trials, tribulations, calamaties and hardships that befall us. The following is a non-exaustive list of some of these benefits (to be updated on a regular basis):

Benefits of Tribulations No.1: Tribulations bring you back to Allah (SWT). When hardship hits, we all turn to Allah. How
many a time have we been living happily, heedless of Allah’s blessings, until hard times hit us like someone close passes away, or we get ill, or an exam approaches etc and we turn back to Allah for help and assistance. This is why Allah created hardship in the world, in order to remind us of Him and to return us back to Him. An example of this may be when you’re on a plane and the plane experiences turbulance and shaking during your journey, one of the first reactions of most people who believe in God would be to turn to God and start praying. This turning to Allah at our time of need is one of the benefits that tribulation brings. Continue reading The Benefits of Tribulations

Why do Muslim Men keep their women in Hijab?

A man was once asked ‘Why is it that you muslims cover your women in Hijab?’. The Muslim man replied, ‘Where do you keep your money?’. The man said ‘in my wallet, inside of my pocket’. The Muslim man asked ‘why is it that you keep your money in your wallet and hidden from view?’. The man answered ‘because it is valuable and I don’t want it being stolen’. The Muslim man replied ‘just as your money is valuable and you keep it hidden in your pocket, our women are much more valuable and this is why we keep them hidden in hijab so that strangers can not ‘steal’ from their beauty with their evil glances’.

I heard this story in a talk and have paraphrased it myself, so any mistakes are mine, and the actual words of the conversation have been made up by me.
