08 Rajab 1433 | Hadith of the Day | The Muslim is Under the Protection of Allah and His Messenger

The Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said:

“Whoever prays our prayer and faces our qibla and eats what we slaughter, he is a Muslim and is under the protection of Allah and the protection of His Messenger. Do not act treacherously against Allah with respect to those under His protection.”

It’s Halal but is it Tayyib?

‘O mankind! Eat of that which is lawful and wholesome in the earth, and follow not the footsteps of the devil. Lo! he is an open enemy for you.’ [Qur’an 2:168]

Assalamu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakutuhu,

It’s Halal but is it Tayyib? – something to ponder.

This post will probably pose more questions than provide answers. However, I have decided to write it as it’s something that has begun to bug me recently and is something that’s on my mind at the moment.

Most of us that come from the Asian sub-continent, or even Muslims of other countries, will be used to eating meat on a regular basis. I believe that in most Bangladeshi homes a chicken/lamb curry is a standard dish on most if not all meal times. Given this fact it is surprising to see how few of us actually care about where our meat actually comes from and whether it is truly ‘Halal’. Continue reading It’s Halal but is it Tayyib?

Victory for Alif Academy

I can confirm that earlier today we received the decision from the Planning Inspectorate in regards to our Planning consent. Alhumdolilah the school has been successful in the appeal and has been granted planning permission. The school is required to implement the conditions as discussed in the Inquiry. The school has also been awarded costs for the issues the Council retracted.

The school will now pursue the Council rigorously over the Nursery Education Grant to ensure that we can close this chapter and move on with the development of this school. Can I take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and Dua. I thank Allah and pray that he continues to bless this school. Please continue to remember us in your Dua and please continue to support us with your donations.

Jazak’Allahukhairun.

01 Rajab 1433 | Hadith of the Day | Fasting in Rajab

Uthman ibn Hakim al-Ansari said: I asked Sa`id ibn Jubayr about fasting in Rajab, and we were then passing through the month of Rajab, whereupon he said: I heard Ibn `Abbas saying:

“The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) used to observe fast so continuously that we thought he would not break it, and did not observe it so continuously that we thought he would not observe fast.”

[Sahih Muslim]

*This hadith indicates that it is beneficial to fast in the month of Rajab and that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) would sometimes fast so continuously in this month that the companions thought he would fast continuously for the entire month. However, he would also sometime not fast, so much so that the companions thought that he would not observe any fasts in the month of Rajab. Having said this, the fact that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) fasted some of the time in Rajab makes it a virtuous Sunna to follow insha Allah.

The Virtues of the month of Rajab: Articles and Links

Assalamu Alaikum,

Alhamdu Lillah we have just started the month of Rajab, which is one of the sacred months in Islam. The Prophet (peace be upon him) would begin his preparations for Ramadhan from this month with the following Dua:

“Allahuma Barik lana fi Rajaba wa Sha’bana wa ballighna Ramadhan”

Translated as follows:

“O Allah, make the months of Rajab and Sha’ban blessed for us, and let us reach the month of Ramadan.” (i.e. prolong our life up to Ramadan, so that we may benefit from its merits and blessings).

[Mentioned by Abu’ Nu’aim in the ‘Hilya’ from Anas Ibn Malik] Continue reading The Virtues of the month of Rajab: Articles and Links
