21 Safar 1434 | Hadith of the Day | Reward of the Believer and Non-believer

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said:

“When a non-believer does good he is made to taste Its reward in this world. And so far as the believer is concerned, Allah stores (the reward) of his virtues for the Hereafter and provides him sustenance in accordance with his obedience to Him. ”

A’isha, Ummul Mu’minin, Narrates:

A woman said: “Apostle of Allah, my mother suddenly died; if it had not happened, she would have given sadaqah (charity) and donated (something). Will it suffice if I give sadaqah on her behalf?” The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: “Yes, give sadaqah on her behalf.”

12 Muharram 1434 | Hadith of the Day | Protection from the Evil Eye with Talismans

Yahya related to me from Malik that Humayd ibn Qays al-Makki said,

“A man came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, with the two sons of Ja’far ibn Abi Talib. He said to their nursemaid, ‘Why are they so thin?’ Their nursemaid said, ‘Messenger of Allah, the evil eye goes quickly to them. Nothing stops us from asking someone to make talismans (using ayats of Qur’an) for them, except that we do not know what of that would agree with you.’ The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘Make talismans for them. Had anything been able to precede the decree, the evil eye would precede it.’ ”

Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) narrates:

“The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) once passed by two graves and said: “They (in the grave) are being punished not for a great thing to avoid” Then he added: “Yes, (they are being punished for a great sin), for one of them used to go about with calumnies (Slander) while the other never saved himself from the splashes of urine” Ibn Abbas said: “Then he (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) took a green leaf and split it into two pieces, then placed one piece on each of the two graves and said: “Their punishment may decrease until these two pieces become dry”
