Chapter Three: Decisions, Decisions

Amjad checked that the door to his room was securely shut. He didn’t want his mum, or anyone else for that matter, suddenly walking in on him.
His bedroom was the first room at the top of the stairs. It had a single bed against one wall with a computer desk next to it. On the other wall was a double wardrobe with mirrored doors, housing all his clothes and bits and pieces. There was a floating shelf above the desk with various miscellaneous items including a toy replica BMW car and some sports trophies. Continue reading Chapter Three: Decisions, Decisions

The following is a fictitious tale that I am writing to explore some themes that are floating around in my head at the moment. Characters and situations are completely made up and do not resemble any real life events. I hope that there will be a good moral to the story but I have yet to develop it to that detailed stage. Excerpts from the Qur’an based on the Stories of the Prophets by Imam Ibn Kathir. Translation of the Qur’an based on Marmaduke Pickthall’s translation.
I am reposting this from a post that I published back in 2007 as I believe that the Qur’anic account of the life of Jesus (peace be upon him) needs to be told and re-told to clarify some of the mysteries surrounding Jesus (peace be upon him) and to reclaim him as a Prophet of the Muslims.
Jesus is one of the revered Messengers of Go. Allah has mentioned the story of Mary and Jesus in many parts of the holy Qur’an. Below are some excerpts taken from the Qur’an to illustrate the Qur’anic narrative on the story of Jesus.
As this is the season of remembering Jesus I hope the following will be useful for both Christians and Muslims to reflect upon the story of this great Prophet of God.
Please refer to the ‘Stories of the Prophets’ by Ibn Kathir for a full account of the Muslim version of the tale.

“Tim and Tom are one of the worst criminals ever!” Bob shouted, infuriated. “Forget that! They’re probably coming back, we’ll hide, and if we see them we’ll catch them!” I explained. So that’s what we did. It was eight o’clock when we started our – rather my – fantastic plan! We waited two hours but there was no sign of Tim and Tom, then, just when we were about to give up, we heard footsteps. “Can I lift it up this time?” someone said. Then I saw them. “No.” Tom answered. Tim had green eyes and cropped brown hair, he had a very long nose and epic ears. Tom was identical except he had blue eyes and black cropped hair. I guessed they were brothers. Bob was shivering again, but not with excitement, but fear! “What’s wrong?” I whispered. A pale Bob pointed at Tim and Tom. They were both wearing green shirts and green trousers, and then I saw what Bob was really pointing at. It was Tim’s pocket; inside his pocket was a gun!

Looking at Jay at the door step with that worried look brought back all those bullying memories. Ben asked Jay, “Why have you got a worried look on your face?” Jay says, “Because Billy is back in town and he has joined the football team again.”
