This Ramadan I would like to share a brief post with you every day asking you to do three things in the day as part of our 30 Day Ramadan challenge.
- The first will be a ‘Deed of the Day’ highlighting a different deed that you can do each day.
- The second will highlight a specific Prophetic Food that you can eat to incorporate a Sunnah Food item in your diet.
- The final will be a charity spotlight recommending a specific charity for you to donate a small sum to in order to support their work.
Let us begin below the actions for Day #26 bi’iznillah
Deed of the Day: Be Good to Your Parents
Ibn ‘Abbas (RA) said, “If any Muslim obeys Allah regarding his parents, Allah will open two gates of the Garden for him. If there is only one parent, then one gate will be opened. If one of them is angry, then Allah will not be pleased with him until that parent is pleased with him.” He was asked, “Even if they wrong him?” “Even if they wrong him” he replied. Prophetic Food of the Day: Dates
“Break your fast with a date, or with water because it is pure.” [Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi]
Charity Spotlight: National Zakat Foundation
Every Muslim community in the world needs a mechanism to uphold the pillar of Zakat, just as our mosques uphold the pillar of Salat. This is what we tasked ourselves with in 2011, when we launched the National Zakat Foundation (NZF) in the UK.
NZF is now the premier Zakat institution for the UK Muslim community, serving Zakat payers and recipients nationwide. By providing a complete Zakat service within the UK, NZF aims to achieve its vision of a faithful, confident, selfless and self-sufficient Muslim community in the United Kingdom.
It is the only organisation providing an end-to-end Zakat service, encompassing Education, Calculation, Collection and Distribution of Zakat funds for the benefit of local, deserving recipients. This group includes some of the most vulnerable members of the community, including the homeless, refugees, asylum seekers, single parents and the elderly.
