Ramadan 2017 Day #16

Assalamu Alaykum,

This Ramadan I would like to share a brief post with you every day asking you to do three things in the day as part of our 30 Day Ramadan challenge.

  1. The first will be a ‘Deed of the Day’ highlighting a different deed that you can do each day.
  2. The second will highlight a specific Prophetic Food that you can eat to incorporate a Sunnah Food item in your diet.
  3. The final will be a charity spotlight recommending a specific charity for you to donate a small sum to in order to support their work.

Let us begin below the actions for Day #16 bi’iznillah.

Deed of the Day: Smile and Bring a Smile to Others

“After obligatory rites, the action most beloved to Allah is delighting other Muslims.” [At-Tabarani]

Prophetic Food of the Day: Pomegranate

‘He produces gardens, both cultivated and wild, and palm‐trees and crops of diverse kinds, and olives and pomegranates, both similar and dissimilar. Eat of their fruits when they bear fruit, pay their due on the day of their harvest, and do not be profligate. He does not love the profligate.’ [Surat al‐An’am: 141]

Charity Spotlight: Solace

SOLACE was set up in 2010 by a group of sisters who were concerned about the difficulties facing revert sisters both in the short and long term, and their variety of needs. Whilst there are many organisations within the United Kingdom catering for the educational and Islamic needs of revert sisters, there appeared to be a lack of support and provision of services catering specifically for the holistic needs of revert sisters. Recognising the need for an organisation with the aim of supporting revert sisters through their various difficulties led to the creation of SOLACE.

SOLACE is a support service for revert sisters in difficulty, regardless of whether they have been Muslim for 2 weeks or even 20 years; it supports them when they are going through life’s problems alone, suffering in silence, or even no longer enjoying their Islam. SOLACE is there to listen to them, empower them, and develop a mutual personal development plan which is realistic and person centric, and which will help them reach their short and long term goals.
