Ramadan 2017 Day #17

Assalamu Alaykum,

This Ramadan I would like to share a brief post with you every day asking you to do three things in the day as part of our 30 Day Ramadan challenge.

  1. The first will be a ‘Deed of the Day’ highlighting a different deed that you can do each day.
  2. The second will highlight a specific Prophetic Food that you can eat to incorporate a Sunnah Food item in your diet.
  3. The final will be a charity spotlight recommending a specific charity for you to donate a small sum to in order to support their work.

Let us begin below the actions for Day #17 bi’iznillah.

Deed of the Day: Recite Ayatul Kursi after every Fard Salah

“Whoever reads “Ayatul-Kursi” [Qur’an 2:255], after every obligatory prayer, nothing prevents him from entering Paradise except death (i.e. that he is still alive).” [An-Nasa’i, Ibn Hibban]

Prophetic Food of the Day: Quince

It was narrated that Talhah(R.A) said: “I entered upon the Prophet (ﷺ) and in his hand was some quince. He said: ‘Take it, O Talhah, for it soothes the heart.'” [Sunan Ibn Majah]

Charity Spotlight: HHUGS

Since 9/11, over 1000 Muslims have been arrested on terrorism charges. Most have been released, a few have been charged and are currently awaiting trial, while only a handful have actually been convicted of any terrorism offenses. Many foreign nationals have been placed under ‘control orders’ while others have been deported back to their home countries along with their wives and children.

For every arrest and detention, a home has been raided and ravaged and a family has suffered the loss of a loved one, a bread winner, a dear husband. a much loved son. These are homes where life will never be the same.

For many of these families, daily tasks have become difficult, they are struggling to make ends meet and transport to visit their loved ones is infrequent. On top of this, their friends have disowned them, their Mosques have abandoned them, and their communities have shunned them. They are lonely, vulnerable, and desperately in need of help.

Hhugs, Helping Households Under Great Stress, is a registered charity that was setup in September 2004 in response to the increasing number of ‘anti-terror’ arrests across the country. We provide support and advice to households affected by this legislation.
